After a trip to Europe, Rachel Rheingold (a fashion stylist) and Michael Berick (a cartographer) wanted to create something they could do together. Combining their love and passion for travel, maps and design – MAPTOTE was born in the Fall of 2006.
The simple cotton totes are silk screened with fun schematic maps of various cities featuring their neighborhoods, city icons and landmarks. All designs are created by Maptote. The bags are something both a visitor or a local can appreciate and enjoy. Great for many purposes, the bags have a variety of uses from carrying groceries to a cute gift to everyday use.
All of our products are made in the USA with the majority of our products made local to us in Brooklyn, NY. We strive to keep our production as local as possible to ensure quality as well as limiting our carbon footprint on the environment. Since the tote, we’ve added many new products – wine totes, note cards, zip pouches, baby onesies – as well as many more to come.
