Fardeen Khan in movie with Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna titled Basra

Produced by Nikhil Advani, the film will be directed by Navdeep Singh (Manorama: Six Feet Under). Sources reveal that the high-budget action drama will go on floors in coming weeks.

Singh spent the last few months doing intense research on the subject of the film.

"The movie is based on the Iraqi town Basra. Post 9/11, Basra was in the line of fire when the Americans invaded Iraq to over throw Saddam Hussein's regime. The film is based around the same period."

Kailash Kher will compose music for the film. The source adds, "Navdeep has already started pre-production work on the project.

He has sat down with Kailash and even worked out a few tunes. Since the setting is in the middle east, the film will have music with Arabic influences."

One starry condolence meet and SRK's big bad van

Here’s the family: Late Feroz Khan’s family, son Fardeen and daughter Laila Khan walk out of J W Marriot post the condolence meeting.

Family man: Hrithik Roshan stands out at the venue. Is he waiting for media to click more pictures?

His women: One of Feroz Khan’s women, Celina Jaitley, makes an entry into the venue to show support to the grieving family. She looks much toned down than usual.

Colour me pretty: Ameesha is the only one to appear in more than just white. She does show a lot of disappointment.

Yeh Mannat Nahi Hai: With his big new van blocking most of the entrance, SRK’s Mannat doesn’t look the same anymore. What happened to briefing up security?

Dulha Mil Gaya to release in July

Mudassar Aziz’s long awaited debut film Dulha Mil Gaya will hopefully release this year. The movie, produced by Vivek Vaswani and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Fardeen Khan, Tara Sharma and Johnny Lever, was postponed due to Shah Rukh’s lack of dates.

Dulha Mil Gaya marks the return of SRK and Sushmita as an onscreen couple since Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na released in 2004. But new director remains tightlipped about the project, saying, “It’s not the right time to talk about anything. When that time comes, we will announce everything.”

Co-producer Anuj Saxena, however, is more confident, saying, “Dulha Mil Gaya, which has been delayed, is finally ready to release. If everything goes well, we will release it this July.” The film is also being co-produced by Adlabs and Insight Productions.

Dulha Mil Gaya revolves around four main characters: Shah Rukh Khan as Raj Oberoi, Sushmita Sen as Lisa DD, Fardeen Khan as Shashank and Tara Sharma as Jessica DD. It movie has been shot extensively in Trinidad and Tobago and Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of a Trinidadian businessman.

Director Mudassar has written the dialogues for the film Zindagi Rock before venturing into direction. He is also said to be helping Sushmita Sen with her historical film based on Rani Laxmibai.

Feroz Khan's last wish was to remake Qurbani

Feroz Khan's last wish before he passed away in Bangalore was to finish his dream project - a remake of his 1980 blockbuster film "Qurbani".

"His last wish was to remake 'Qurbani' as 'Kurbani'. He was very keen that the film be made again and was working towards it," Rajkumar Tiwari, Feroz Khan's manager of 25 years, told IANS over phone from Bangalore.

"When he fell ill, he realised that a lot of energy was required to make a film, so he took a break and was adamant that he will make the film. Few songs had already been recorded. This project was his last wish and I am sure someone will take it forward," he added.

Feroz Khan passed away late on Sunday at his farmhouse in Bangalore after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 69.

He had announced "Kurbani" at the 2006 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) event in Dubai. His son, actor Fardeen Khan, was to reprise his father's role in the new version of the romantic thriller.

Apart from Feroz Khan, the original also starred Vinod Khanna, Zeenat Aman and Amjad Khan in pivotal roles.

The actor had also decided to star in the remake of the film. According to media reports, he had roped in filmmaker Sanjay Gupta to wield the megaphone for the movie. When contacted, Gupta refused to comment on it.

Anand Raj Anand, who has been signed to direct the music for the remake, said: "We had already recorded three songs for 'Kurbani' but his health was an issue. Right now I don't want to comment anything more on this as I am very sad about hearing of his demise."

With hit songs like "Aap jaisa koi" and the title qawwali "Qurbani qurbani", the music of the original was a chartbuster.
