Now Boarding

I am completely taken with these vintage airplane boarding passes and luggage tags found at Great Scott Vintage. I love the colors, the fonts, and that they appear to be interesting and unique reminders of the companies they represented, indications of a different era in passenger flight and a stark contrast to the often bland bar-coded or print-at-home boarding passes of today.

    Here, here, and here.

Vintage Loving

I'm always amazed by the amount of creativity and skill there is in the wedding photography industry, and I constantly fall for new (to me) talent. Yet, just as often as I discover a new crush, one of my old favorites will remind me why they have long been on my love list.

One such photographer is Kelly Moore, and this incredible photo shoot, from a "Give Me Moore" one-on-one mentoring session (for other photographers,) illustrates why.

I gasped for the sheer beauty of these images; the colors, the styling, and the vintage-feel add to the allure of the photos, and, of course, a stunning couple never hurts the mix.

I love the sweetness that is conveyed as much from the settings and clothing as the expressions and poses of the models.

I had a hard time picking favorites, as it seemed I loved each as much as the next.

There are so many more gorgeous photos to see, you must check them out on Kelly's blog (which does them far more justice than mine anyway!) I am positive you may find yourself gasping too.

On a personal note, my mom is arriving this afternoon for her first visit to Houston since E & I moved here. I can't wait to show her around, and we have a list about a mile long of things to do. We'll make the most of the days we have, but, inevitably, there will be things left undone, and I will be saying goodbye to her far too soon. For now, though, I am simply excited to say hello.Source URL: http://soniceview.blogspot.com/search/label/vintage

Be Still My Beating Heart

I love maps, which those of you who've been reading for a while will probably remember from Map Week. As I was looking for items for a theme week I was planning (I did those once, right? Yes, I know it has been a while...) I stumbled across Etsy shop BananaStrudel.

BananaStrudel has a large collection of original antique maps as well as other other amazing antique prints, including architectural plans and details, illustrations of animals and insects, and diagrams of many other things that made me giddy with excitement.

As I looked through the extensive collection of affordable maps and prints, I found one piece after another that I wanted for me, for E, and for many of the people I know and love.

If antique maps and prints are up your alley, BananaStrudel is a shop that's certainly worth a look.

Keeping It Cool

E has a small, clip-on desk fan, which he has owned since his time in college. It is white plastic, although the plastic is more of a dingy grey now. The protective cover no longer exists, and the blades have been stained in areas by a black permanent marker, a byproduct of a bored moment or two.

E has yet to let it go for sentimental reasons, but if I could convince him to upgrade, I would love for this beauty to serve as a replacement.

I have mentioned my love for industrial-inspired things before, and this vintage fan makes my heart flutter. Oh how I'd love if this resided in our office. Or bedroom. Really, I think I could put it anywhere in our house, and it would make me smile every time I saw it.Source URL: http://soniceview.blogspot.com/search/label/vintage

Step Right Up, Folks...

Chattanooga Choo Choo

The photo of this Aqua Towncraft suitcase (suitcase for sale from Etsy shop "bamabelle" and featured on the Etsy homepage) makes me want to jump into the 1940's, travel cross-country by train while wearing a smart skirt suit, stockings, a hat and pumps- aqua suitcase in hand (um, and never mind that the suitcase is from the 1950's...)

Oh! Perhaps the outfit I'd wear would look something like this.

Too dressy? I suppose it doesn't matter if it is, seeing as I would also be traveling with a yet-to-be-made suitcase!Source URL: http://soniceview.blogspot.com/search/label/vintage
